The phrases that flow today
This is Tom. Tom has a mother, a father, and a sister. "I have a sister," says Tom. "Her name is Lucy." You use "I have…" for your people and your things — "I have a brother", "I have a dog". Mia has a brother too. "I have a brother. His name is Leo." Leo is her brother — his name is Leo. And Tom's sister? "Her name is Lucy." Lucy — her name is Lucy. Hear it again: his name is Leo, her name is Lucy. Leo, his name… Lucy, her name. Tom shows a photo. "This is my mother. This is my father. And this is my sister, Lucy." A nice family. A happy family. Do you have a brother? Do you have a sister? Say it: "This is my family."

The story
Tom has a sister, Lucy. Lucy has a small, happy dog — his name is Max, and he runs everywhere. But today, the house is quiet. Too quiet. "Max? Max?" Max is gone! Lucy's eyes go big, and she's sad. Then Tom helps his sister. He looks, he calls — and there's Max, with Mom! Big smile. Now the whole family is together again.

Now: Tom has a sister. Her name is Lucy. Lucy has a small, happy dog, and his name is Max. But oh no — today Max is gone, and Lucy can't find him. Lucy is sad. Then Tom helps his sister. He looks, and he says, "Max is with Mom!" Max is here, and now the whole family is happy.
Before: Yesterday, Tom had a sister. Her name was Lucy. Lucy had a small, happy dog, and his name was Max. But oh no — that day Max was gone, and Lucy couldn't find him. Lucy was sad. Then Tom helped his sister. He looked, and he said, "Max is with Mom!" Max was here, and the whole family was happy.
A common mistake
Don't try to keep every little word straight in your head. Just say the warm phrases again and again — his name is Leo, her name is Lucy — until they come out on their own. Hear them, feel them, let them flow without thinking.
Say it out loud
- Say who is in your family: "I have a…"
- Show a photo and say: "This is my mother. This is my father."
- Name one person: "His name is…" or "Her name is…"
